Lakers had the right idea by trying to get younger after the 2020 chip, but trading a first-rounder (Jaden McDaniels) and betting on a second-rounder (Horton-Tucker) turned out to be a mistake. Then they panicked after LeBron's and AD's injuries in '21 and gave up on KCP, Caruso and Kuzma. Any of those guys (KCP, Caruso, McDaniels, Kuzma) would have helped against Denver the past two playoffs. If it's any consolation, the Warriors, Nuggets, Bucks and Heat have yet to get any better.

The best move the Lakers are capable of making at this point is an ownership change…I normally wouldn’t go that far but Jeanie hired Rob, who had no credentials or experience. Which is fine, but when it didn’t work you have to move on. Then Rob decided to blame the Russ trade ENTIRELY on LeBron when it was really a joint decision, which caused LeBron’s camp to back WAY off of working closely with the Lakers and instead started a PR battle. Then we hire a coach who after tasting some success his first year decided he can do whatever he wants and even when he looses the locker room, both very privately and VERY publicly, they don’t fire him and instead wait til after the season cuz it “looks bad” after how they did Vogel dirty. It’s a constant process of over correction after over correction and Jeanie, at ANY POINT, could have stopped all of this by simply quieting LeBron, firing Pelinka and hiring a real GM who doesn’t mind saying no to the star player. But a real GM would also have to be smart enough to know when he was working in the player’s best interest despite the appearance of working against him…a good start would have been to shut down the Russ trade. We can throw some blame at Bron, a little at AD, and a good portion towards Darvin and Pelinka…but ALL of this is happening under Jeanie’s watch. She’s the one constant behind all of the inconsistency and crap management. I’m sure she’s a wonderful woman, but I do remember just a couple years ago her complaining about being criticized because she’s “a woman”. Which is a cop-out mentality. If you are good at your job, we don’t care what chromosomes you have. But I don’t recall any extended period of time where she has been successful. Let’s not forget, her era technically started with the “kid Lakers” who never won anything til LeBron showed up and had them traded for AD…just some thoughts

I feel like Rob and the his entire front office have pulled a fast one on us Laker fans. I get the new rules make it harder to trade. But damn bro. Every team around us seems to be getting better, it's like other GMs are actively working to land notable players, you miss out on some good pieces and worst part is that LBJ gave them a nice through pass of taking less money so they could improve the team. Maybe the best move this season is first comsider releasing Rob from the job.

My perspective is that it has been a pretty good offseason. Getting Vando and Gabe back will be like getting two new key pieces. Knecht is a great pickup. Dlo picking up the options is huge. As an asset and also the best shooter in FA. Hayes picking up his option was also good imo. For the price he is well worth it.
